Burnin’ Desire of Wildlife Lane – Dezi
Born into this world on June 14, 2008 was a very special addition to the lives of Jerry and Chris Brost. The name Burnin’ Desire was giving to her as a reflection of her sister, mentor and hunting companion, Tikka. It didn’t take long for us to figure out that the name was a perfect fit.
In the early days of training she was often referred to as one stubborn puppy but this was nothing more than her shear determination & drive. She was all business and not much pleasure but in hindsight her pleasure was her business. When her nose finally caught up with her speed she would become a threat to win every time she hit the line.
Dezi won every Super Major event, most multiple times, that she ever played in. Included in that list of NBDCA events were the Invitationals, Classic, Players, Top Guns, Worlds, Western Nationals & Nationals. She was also a multiple NUCS National Champion and PHU Champion.
As with every dog that we all have ever had in our lives, we have numerous amounts of memories. For some reason with dogs every memory is a happy one. Some memorable moments of this champions career were winning multiple 2 dog doubles events with her sister Tikka, Daughter Rosalee & granddaughter Anna. Those types of memories are pretty hard to beat. Winning at this game is tough to do but it became a norm for this gal.
Dezi would become the platform for the Brost’s small but selective line of Labradors. Her bloodline has produced multiple champions in the world of tournament hunting as well as great hunting companions.
She would become part of the one-two punch of the Dezi & Tikka team era. Between these two their actions spoke louder than any words one could speak. They were both truly life changers for their owners. One can only wonder why God blessed us with such fine animals that are only with us for a very short time, yet they have a lifelong lasting effect.
At the age of 14 being retired from the game and just living the life of a dog, Dezi became ill & was diagnosed with an incurable liver cancer. It was on August 2, 2022 Dezi was laid to rest to once again run the fields with her sister and all the great dogs that had passed before her.
Today March 9, 2023 Dezi enters the BDC Hall of Fame as a Legendary Status Dog with 184 Championships, 3669 career Champion points, 26 Super Major Championships and 23 Major Championships. Dezi finished her career ranked 2nd overall in Lifetime Champion points. Dezi thank you for the amazing journey, it was an honor to be your wingman!
